Building Armor for Athletes
We create grip conditioning systems that transform how climbers and athletes prepare their skin for the demands of their sport.
Our Story
FrictionForm was born from a simple frustration: training on smooth wooden pegboards and grip training equipment didn't prepare our skin for the sharp, abrasive reality of outdoor climbing. We'd spend months in the gym, building strength and endurance, only to get shut down on our first real rock project because our skin couldn't handle the texture.
After experimenting with various DIY solutions—sandpaper, grip tape, rough fabrics—we realized what athletes really needed was a modular, adjustable system that could simulate real rock textures while fitting existing training equipment. The idea was simple: if we could train our skin with the same intensity we train our muscles, we'd be unstoppable.
What started as a garage project quickly gained traction in the climbing community. Outdoor climbers preparing for Yosemite and Red Rocks discovered our system bridged the gap between gym and crag. Calisthenics athletes found the portable balls perfect for desk training. CrossFit gyms started ordering sets for their pegboard stations.
Today, FrictionForm serves over 500 athletes worldwide who understand that tough skin isn't just about calluses—it's about systematically conditioning your nervous system to handle discomfort. Because when the climbing gets hard, your armor should be harder.
